Letters from Sevda: My Peru Itinerary

3 days ago I turned 21 which is just crazy and time has been flying ever since spring. I spent the day in Paris with my family and had a hectic but great time over there. Right now, I am in Istanbul and checking in to update you on a recent travel adventure: Peru.

Me any my sister went to Peru for three weeks during May and explored the beautiful Peruvian landscapes, the local cuisine and experienced the culture first hand.

We flew to Lima and continued directly to Ica and Huacachina, an oasis in the middle of the desert. We tried sandboarding there which was amazing, even though by the end of it we had sand everywhere in our clothes and hair.

Since we already had bought our tickets to Machu Picchu ahead of our trip we headed to the south and spend a few days in different places along the way including Arequipa and Cusco where we hiked in the mountain landscape. The air was incredibly thin because of the altitude making every movement feel exhausting.

Especially Arequipa struck a chord with me, with its picturesque white buildings made out of volcano stone and the colonial style buildings. The city is surrounded by multiple volcanos, the most famous one being Misti.

We only got to visit the southern region of Peru and Central Peru because our time was limited and the distances between the different cities are quite large.

However, we experienced quite a lot and made some very unique memories along the way. As soon as possible, I will update the blog with travel diaries from some of the places we visited and more details on must-sees, must-dos and places not to miss.

Until then, get inspired!

XO, Sevda
