I’m a complete beauty addict. I love how make up can make you feel more powerful and confident or even transform your entire look. So, I decided to create an article series devoted to this topic called Beauty 101. I am going to cover the basics and share interesting tips and tricks.
Traveling often seems to get in the way of my regular skincare and beauty routine and I used to struggle with breakouts and clogged pores during trips. To avoid this and stay on top of your beauty game simply follow these easy rules:
- Stay hydrated
Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief ($45)
It sounds very obvious but staying hydrated is the first step to feeling and looking better. I can’t stress the importance of water for your body enough. However, don’t only hydrate your body take care of your skin as well by applying a good moisturiser and using a hydrating face mask before your trip.
- Pack multipurpose products
Nars The Multiple ‘South Beach’ ($39)
The easiest way to save space in your luggage is to pack multipurpose products that can act in more ways than one. For example a good lip and cheek tint can simplify your beauty routine while travelling a whole lot. The same goes for repurposing blush as eyeshadow or your eyebrow pencil as eyeliner. My favourites include the Multiple by NARS and the Benetint Cheek & Lip Stain by Benefit.
- Use Moroccan Oil
Moroccan Oil Treatment Original ($15)
Humidity often destroys any chance I have of experiencing a good hair day. Especially when travelling to humid climates I rely heavily on Moroccan Oil to smooth down my mane. Another good option would be coconut oil, which doubles as a skincare product, make up remover and even as shaving cream. However, my hair tends to look a bit oily when I use coconut oil. So, try out the different options and see which hair oil works best for you.
- Make your compacts shatterproof
Sephora Soft touch cotton pads ($4)
To avoid heart break aka your favourite make up items breaking place cotton pads inside of your powder compacts. It will act as a cushion and prevent both the mirror inside and the powdered compact from damage and breakage. You should obviously still be able to close the compact with the cotton inside.
I hope you enjoyed these tips and let me know if you have more useful beauty suggestions to use when traveling. Get inspired!

I always do the last one, because my compacts shattered way too many times!
Another lifesaver for me is skin care products that already contain strong SPF so that I don’t have to layer on lots on heavy products in the heat.
Yes, definitely, thanks for the tip!

I definitely want to try Moroccan Oil – I LOVE coconut oil, but I totally agree that it can make your hair a bit greasy when you use it as a hair moisturizer.
