Decorating your dorm room in a way that is creative, personal and unique and yet is in line with your dorm’s rules can be quite a challenge. Last year when I started my college life I took it upon me to find out how to personalize my room and make it feel like a home away from home.
In the first article of the Dorm Room DIY series I want to show you how to make wall art out of Washi Tape and some post cards or printed pictures of your choice.
What you will Need:
– double sided tape,
– postcards, printed pictures,
– washi tape
Just arrange your favourite postcards and pictures in a way you like (leaving some distance in between for the different types of frames), stick them on to the wall with double sided tape and get creative with the rice paper based washi tape, which is available in all colours and patterns. Just have fun until you are happy with the amount of pictures you have.
I also added some (very optional) wooden frames and a little framed piece of cardboard which I painted with chalkboard paint earlier to the wall art to get an interesting three dimensional effect. Again, I used strong double sided tape to keep them in place. Be careful and do not use too heavy frames or they will just fall off with time.
It really is as easy as it sounds, but the result looks classy and is able to show off a lot of your own personality with relatively little effort.
Here is my result:
I am extremely happy with the way it turned out. What do you think? Is Washi tape framing your pictures an option for you?
